DiSC assessments, MBTI type indicator inventory, a Predictive Index and a Personal Strength tests detect how I face challenges and solve problems at work. All tests and assesments are linked to my managerial tasks and the role I have at work in general.

DISC Personal Profile

I have taken two DiSC person profile tests over a period of ten years. The latest is made in connection with a course at Tack International in June 2021. I am D over i  with shadow in competency seeking. (The model below is in Danish.)

DiSC

The report says: “… you are probably active and you are pushing yourself to achieve ambitious goals. You like to work at a fast pace and you have limited patience left over for things that slow down development… Because you have a great need for variety, you are often eager to seize new opportunities, even if it means you must change direction… You are happy to take responsibility, and you probably enjoy when you are allowed to take control.”

“Even if you have the ability to create momentum, you avoid being distracted by details, and you may prefer to delegate more in-depth responsibilities to others… You tend to be brave and adventurous. You are open to taking a risk… Just like others with the Di style, you probably make the connections you need to create results. You are pretty outspoken and confident… your most important qualities are probably your great energy, your drive to make things happen and your ability to inspire others.”

My DiSC profile means that I have the following priorities:

  • Action-oriented
  • Result-creating
  • Create enthusiasm
  • Demonstrate expertise

My DiSC personal profile from 2011 was made on a leadership course. It looks a little different with less competence seaking, but otherwise they are pretty similar.

  • Dominance/Drive: 17
  • Influence: 7
  • Steadiness: -8
  • Conscientious: -16

People who score high in the intensity of the “D” styles factor are very active in dealing with problems and challenges, High “D” people are described as demanding, forceful, egocentric, strong willed, driving, determined, ambitious, aggressive and pioneering.

The Predictive Index

The three times I have taken the PI Behavioral Assessment via PI The Predictive Index over a period of four years, the result has been the same. I am The Maverick. A maverick is an unorthodox person or independent thinking person. Here are the key points from the test report (in Danish).

The Predictive Index

Overview

Allan is a confident, independent self-starter. A competitive person, full of initiative and has a strong ability to prioritize. He can make decisions and take responsibility for them. He can react and adapt quickly to changing circumstances and come up with ideas on how to tackle them.

He is purposeful and goes after getting things done quickly. He responds positively and actively to challenges and pressures, and he trusts his own ability to deal with new problems and people. He is an outgoing, balanced person, a lively and enthusiastic communicator with a tendency to be a little more authoritative than persuasive in his style. Allan speaks quickly, with confidence and conviction, and has a stimulating influence on others while being firm, direct, and confident in his dealings with them.

His work pace is noticably higher than average. He learns and acts quickly. On the other hand, he will become impatient and restless if he has to perform repetitive tasks with routine details eg structured work. He will delegate such tasks if his position allows, and will follow up on focus on implementation and performance rather than on how things were done. With an interest in other people and their development, Allan will delegate authority, yet limit the delegation to people he trusts, and follow up by pushing for results on time.

He makes decisions about people and situations quickly. He assesses what is generally going on, and instead of in-depth investigations, he gathers the information he has and acts with a firm hand. He is confident in his own assumptions about lack of information and feels comfortable acting, even without having all the information. For Allan, continuous progress toward the overall goal is more important than ever to be precisely on the right track. He is flexible and if necessary adjusts the direction when the time is right.

Strongest behavior

He achieves his goals because he is enterprising, has impact and understands when things are urgent. He openly challenges the world around him.

He presents his ideas in an independent way, and they are often innovative and create change if implemented. He works hard through and around everything that prevents the completion of what he wants to achieve. When challenged, he defends himself.

He is impatient to see results. He pushes himself and others to be able to implement quickly, and he is much less productive when working on routine.

He is risk-averse, brave and focuses on future goals, and he is more concerned with where he is going than how to get there or where he has been. Ready to change, works flexibly.

Makes decisions and acts, even with limited documentation of the decision. Sure of his own ideas and unimpressed by traditions.

Flexible approach to doing things according to the ‘book;’ often bends the rules and does things his own way. An innovative person who does not allow himself to be knocked out by defeat.

He himself takes the initiative to get in touch with others. He is open, rewarding, and builds and uses relationships to do his job.

He speaks fluently, quickly and a lot. He enthusiastically persuades and motivates others by considering their views and then adapting his communication.

Collaborative: He usually works with and through others. He understands intuitive collaboration, team dynamics and relationships between people.

Personal strengths

In connection with a job change in 2014 my strengths were testet. I have the highest scores in the categories wisdom and leadership and my lowest score was in moderation. In the different categories I had the highest scores in:

  • Wisdom: ingenuity and inquisitive
  • Ledership: ledership skills and entusiasm
  • Humanity: social intelligens og kindness
  • Justice: fairness og courage
  • Modesty: moderation (however, not particularly high)
  • Transcendens: humour and gratitude

MBTI

According to a Myers-Briggs MBTI type indicator test my type is ENTP. It shows my psychological preferences in how I make decisions and perceive the world.

  • E: Extrovert
  • N: Intuition
  • T: Thinking
  • P: Perception

ENTPs’ primary mode of living is focused externally, where they absorb things in primarily via their intuition. They deal with things rationally and logically.
With Extraverted Intuition dominating their personality, the ENTP’s primary interest in life is understanding the world. They are constantly absorbing ideas and images about the situation. Using their intuition to process this information, they are usually extremely quick and accurate in their ability to access a situation.

An ENTP has a deeper understanding of his/her environment than any of the other types. This ability to intuitively understand situations and people gives the ENTP a distinct advantage. They generally understand things quickly and with great depth. They are quite flexible and adapt well to a wide range of tasks. They are good at anything that interests them. As they grow and further develop their intuitive abilities and insights, they become very aware of possibilities, and this makes them quite resourceful when solving problems. ENTPs are idea people. Their perceptive abilities cause them to see possibilities everywhere. They get excited and enthusiastic about their ideas, and are able to spread their enthusiasm to others. In this way, they get the support that they need to fulfill their visions.
